‘Inspirational’ employee award

-

A blind trainer who helps others with no or impaired sight has been praised after being named top adult employee at Fife Business Diversity Awards.

Stuart Beveridge is the access technology trainer at Fife Society for the Blind.

He helps people young and old, from a boy who lost his sight in an accident to an 80-year-old woman whose sight loss was the result of illness.

He won the adult employee category in the annual awards for those who have overcome disadvantage in finding and keeping jobs or who promote employment of disadvantaged people.

Carl Hodson, chief executive of Fife Society for the Blind, said the recognition was thoroughly deserved and said Stuart was inspirational.

She said: “His training and advice on technology to our sight-impaired and severely sight-impaired clients changes people’s lives.”

Stuart teaches people how to use technology to lead more independent lives.

He is regularly invited to present to other groups and attend national conferences.

Society fundraising manager Sally Cameron, who nominated him, said: “Stuart has a friendly outgoing disposition and he genuinely cares about the clients he works with. His motivation and satisfaction comes from helping others.

“Fife Society for the Blind is tremendously lucky to have such an exceptional team member.”
