DUNDEE: Kerr believes McCann’s squad are building ‘something special’

Dundee’s Cammy Kerr believes his side are building momentum towards “something special” after Saturday’s win at Ross County.

The result, courtesy of two superb goals from Mark O’Hara and Faissal El Bakhtaoui, means the Dark Blues have taken seven points from their last three matches and are now up to ninth in the Premiership table, four points clear of bottom club Partick Thistle.

The win against the Staggies followed hot on the heels of the memorable victory over Rangers at Dens Park two Fridays ago with Kerr, who once again captained the side in the Highlands in the absence of suspended skipper Darren O’Dea, insisting the team are finally receiving the rightful rewards for all the hard work they are putting in on the training field.

The 22-year-old said: “It is quite clear how tight the league is.

“We are up to ninth and there is very little separating the teams at the bottom.”

“One result can propel you up there and it is all about getting that bit of momentum which I think we have at the moment,” added the captain.

“But we have to maintain that and keep working hard in training with all the extra sessions we are doing. Hopefully we are building something special.”

A delighted Dundee boss Neil McCann lavished praise on his side and made special mention of keeper Elliott Parish who has been a big success since replacing Scott Bain between the sticks.

The manager said: “They were two great goals but performancewise it was good to beat Ross County, who have been playing well under Owen Coyle.

“We are showing signs of adaptability and flexibility that I have been working on.

“We showed a different side to our game by playing from the back

“We got that first goal then became a different animal and hit on the counter.

“I told the players they are beginning to show glimpses of that hard work they are putting into training.

“I have to say Elliott Parish was brilliant with two clean sheets (in three games) and I am buzzing for him because he waited a long time to come in.”

Dundee striker Sofien Moussa had to come off in the 74th minute after falling awkwardly but is not thought to have suffered any serious injury.
