Hearing aid users can book batteries in ON Fife libraries

-

Fifers can now pick up more than a book at their local library.

ONFife Libraries has launched a free service for people who use NHS hearing aids, which will give them easy access to replacement batteries. The new batteries can be collected at any ONFife Library. No appointment is needed, but people using the new service will need to take along either their yellow audiology log book or audiology business card. Staff will then be able to supply them with two free packs of batteries.

Fife Cultural Trust chief executive Heather Stuart said it was pleased to be able to offer the service in partnership with NHS Fife Audiology Services.

“By providing this service we continue to build on a successful partnership which has seen book prescription services and cultural prescriptions being offered to residents of Fife,” she said.

“As well as being able to pick up replacement batteries, new visitors are also free to discover and make use of the various other services available in ONFife libraries.”

Fife Council’s health and social care spokesman David Graham said: “This is a fantastic service, giving people in our communities the opportunity to go along to their local library to collect their batteries and making it much easier and more convenient than having to travel the fair distances that many have had to in the past.”

“The scheme also gives the opportunity to free up appointments in Fife’s audiology departments, making the service better for the people who need the service most,” added the Labour councillor.
