Motorists warned of series of roadworks starting on the M90

-

Drivers are being warned to avoid major roadworks on the M90 between Milnathort and Arlary.

The £475,000 scheme is the latest phase of carriageway improvements, following the completion of work between junctions 6 and 7.

Maintenance on the 1km stretch of the northbound carriageway between junctions 7 and 8 will start tomorrow and is expected to take 12 days.

During the programme, a 50mph contraflow system will be in place to protect road workers and motorists.

The junction 8 northbound off-slip will be closed at weekends and overnight during the week between 7.30pm and 6.30am to allow resurfacing works to be carried out.

A signed diversion will be in place from junction 6 northbound via the A922, B966 and A91 during these times.

To minimise disruption to drivers, the junction 8 northbound off-slip will be reopened during the day between 6.30am and 7.30pm.

A 30mph speed limit will be imposed for safety reasons as traffic will be travelling over a temporary road surface.

Lane closures will be in place tonight to allow teams to set up the traffic management arrangements ahead of work starting tomorrow.

The work is expected to be completed by 6.30am on Monday December 18.

Andy Thompson, Bear Scotland’s north-east representative, said: “Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible and we encourage motorists to plan their journey and check the Traffic Scotland website before setting out.”
