Staff at a Dundee nightclub have been left baffled after a reveller left a huge sack of teabags at the premises after a night out.

Management of Industry, in the city’s Seagate, are appealing for anyone who may have forgotten to take home the bizarre item to get in touch.

Staff said they had found “a lot of strange things in our time in lost property” but that the sack of 1,150 PG Tips teabags was certainly the most unusual.

The industrial sized bag was found on Friday night after a special fundraiser event for local man Marc Leggatt who is battling cancer.

Manager Grant Leslie said the owner must have forgotten about the bizarre accompaniment after spending the night dancing.

“It is definitely the most bizarre item that has been found at the club,” he said.

“We have found other crazy items such as a zimmer frame and teeth in the past but I still think this is stranger.

“It was found at the side of the dance floor so I guess someone must have placed it down there to keep them safe so they didn’t have to dance with it.

“I can’t see them being claimed but you never know.”

The club managed to raise £1,100 for Marc Leggatt in his fight against cancer in a special event featuring DJs Jack Eye Jones and PATON.

Mr Leslie plans to raffle off the teabags for another charitable cause if nobody comes forward to claim them.

“We’ll post something on Twitter and Facebook and hopefully people will get involved and make something good out of it,” he said.
