Cash boost to build for the future

-

A village primary school in Fife is celebrating after receiving a cash boost from a Scottish housebuilder.

Hill of Beath Primary School will receive a £750 donation as part of the Persimmon Homes North Scotland Healthy Communities campaign, which supports young sporting causes.

The scheme will see the housebuilder give away more than £600,000 to sporting causes across the UK over the year, with an overall top national prize of £200,000 to be awarded, in addition to numerous regional donations.

Hill of Beath Primary has limited sporting facilities yet continues to compete with larger regional schools at various sporting events. The school is looking to develop its amenities to benefit pupils and the wider community.

Maureen Lewis, principal teacher, said: “Our pupils, staff and parents are keen to promote healthy living and Persimmon’s support will certainly help us move forward and improve our youngsters’ sporting future.

“We have big plans if we win the national prize including improving sporting training facilities for the benefit of the school and community as well as seeking an artificial grass area in the village park.”

Iain Innes, managing director of Persimmon Homes North Scotland, added: “We are proud to support Hill of Beath Primary in its bid to develop athletes of the future and wish it the best of luck.”
