Ronnie O’Sullivan opened his bid for the Dafabet Scottish Open with a win yesterday but it was Cao Yupeng who grabbed the spotlight with a stunning 147 in Glasgow.

Yupeng notched his first maximum break in tournament play to win the third frame in his 4-0 win over Andrew Higginson to become only the third player from mainland China to achieve the feat, following Ding Junhui and Liang Wenbo.

The 27-year-old was in devastating form as he reeled off further breaks of 72, 56 and 64 to seal a one-sided victory, with Higginson only managing to score 53 points in the match.

The Rocket, who next plays Robert Milkins, said: “I enjoy Scotland and I’ve got some good friends here.

“I’ll try my best and if I can win another tournament then great.”
