Warriors centre Johnson out for 10 weeks with fractured jaw
Glasgow’s Sam Johnson has been ruled out for at least 10 weeks after suffering a fractured jaw against Montpellier.
The centre was forced off the field in the opening moments of last week’s 29-22 defeat to the French side and will miss the reverse fixture today.
Dave Rennie admitted last week that the Warriors are effectively out of the European Champions Cup and defeat last week has been compounded by the injuries suffered to Johnson and Leo Sarto.
Sarto will also miss this week’s match as he undergoes shoulder treatment, but the loss of Johnson for over two months following surgery will be a blow.
Alex Dunbar and Nick Grigg come into the centres to replace Johnson and Huw Jones, while Lee Jones replaces Sarto out wide.
Peter Horne is in for Finn Russell at fly-half and Ali Price will collect his 50th cap for Glasgow, while Fraser Brown returns to the front row after a head injury.
Despite suffering three successive defeats in Europe, Rennie remains optimistic over the development of his side.
He said: “We played some good stuff last Friday, for periods of that game we were in the driving seat and we’re excited to have another crack at Montpellier on Saturday.
“We’re disappointed with the results so far in this competition but we’ve come up against three of the best sides in Europe and have learnt a lot.
“The boys will be eager to show what they’ve learnt and put in a more consistent, complete performance.”
