Bollan determined to put up fight against top teams

-

Cowdenbeath head north for the first of two games against the leading sides in League Two, with manager Gary Bollan determined that the Blue Brazil show that they can compete against today’s hosts Peterhead before facing Montrose early next month.

The Central Park side secured a third draw under the former Livingston, Airdrie and Forfar boss in midweek against Stenhousemuir.

Bollan said: “It was another encouraging performance and decent result. The first half was really good as we played well and created a good number of chances.

“We are still not ruthless enough. However, we are getting better all the time and that was the best 45 minutes I have seen since I came in.

“Overall it was a point and another solid performance.

“That is three draws in a row and that run has stopped the rot in terms of losing games.”

As for facing the Blue Toon, Bollan said: “I faced Peterhead in the play-offs with Forfar last season, so I know a bit about them. But they have changed their team around a bit since then.

“They are strong, but if we go there and are resilient and determined again that would be terrific.

“We are facing the top teams in the league, one after the other, and we need to make sure that they know they have been in a game. It will be tough against Peterhead and then Montrose but we will look to take something from the next 10 days.”

David Syme is available again after a ban. However, goalkeeper Joe McGovern and striker Josh Morris remain out.
