Man to be sentenced after breaking restriction order
A 24-year-old man, who has made repeated recent court appearances in connection with a string of offences across Fife, was back in the dock after breaching his restriction order.
Gavin Simm, of Bobber Wynd, Cupar, appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court after failing to comply with the restriction of liberty order on a number of occasions.
He had previously caused a disturbance outside a Dunfermline supermarket, then when he was released from custody he sparked more trouble in a Glenrothes shopping centre.
Simm had been ordered to stay out of Dunfermline after attracting the attention of staff at the Tesco store in the town centre and threatening to kill people in the street nearby.
On that occasion he was released for reports to be obtained before sentencing, but just three days later was involved in a similar incident in Glenrothes.
Simm admitted that on September 10 in the Glamis Centre, Glenrothes, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and making threats of violence.
He also breached a home curfew imposed following the previous offence, and was sentenced to a four-month restriction of liberty order.
Having breached that order, Simm found himself back in the dock at Dunfermline this week.
Defence solicitor Roshni Joshi said: “He feels his neighbours were winding him up and he was also hearing voices in his head.
“He was leaving his property to escape from this,” she added.
Sheriff Craig McSherry called for reports.
Simm will return to court to be sentenced again on January 31.
