Robinson determined to make most of Pars move

-

Lee Robinson is desperate to grasp his fresh start with Dunfermline after eight months out of the game made him fully appreciate the mistakes he has made in his career.

The 31-year-old left Queen of the South in September, despite starting all but one game for the Doonhamers last season, and returned to action with a stunning man-of-the-match display on Tuesday after penning a short-term deal with the Pars.

After leaving Queens, the former Rangers and Kilmarnock goalie threw himself into The Modern Day GK, the coaching brand he had set up with brother Mark, a strength and conditioning coach, and other sibling Shaun.

They have become a social media sensation, attracting ‘likes’ from Iker Casillas and Pepe Reina, a slot on Soccer AM and even a session with England star Jamie Vardy.

However, the Sunderlandborn number one admits he was always keen to get back playing and is thrilled to have landed his move to East End Park, where he is back working with former Palmerston Park boss Allan Johnston.

He said: “My last game was the last game of last season against Dunfermline. So it has been eight months since I played.

“I’ve been training on my own at home in Sunderland and I have been abroad a few times as well.

“I have started up a company that works with young goalkeepers with my brothers, doing the stuff I should have done with my career.

“It has gone really well so far, we have done great things with some top players

“But this is what I want to do, I don’t care about coaching and training. I just want to play.

“I thought this might be, if not my last chance, a chance anyway at a great club and I would love to do really well here and get my career started properly.

“I am grateful for the opportunity. I feel as good as ever, really, and I enjoyed my first game for a while. I couldn’t have found a better club.”
