Fired-up Fife Flyers continued to dominate Scottish rivals Braehead Clan after a 4-1 success in Glasgow last night which moved them up to third place in the Elite League.

Evan Bloodoff claimed a double, with Shayne Stockton and Danick Gauthier netting singles. Christoffer Bjorklund replied for the Glasgow side.

Todd Dutiaume’s men played disciplined hockey, combined with an impressive workrate, to claim maximum points from their weekend doubleheader with Clan after Saturday’s 3-2 overtime success over the Glasgow side.

Flyers have 42 points from 28 games and are a point behind Belfast Giants, who have iced in 32 fixtures.

Cardiff Devils head the table with 48 points from 31 outings.

On Saturday, Bloodoff was the hero as he slotted the game winner after 1:58 of sudden-death overtime.

The goal earned Fife their fourth straight success over Scottish rivals Braehead Clan in the league this season.

It came after Fife had been 1-0 down in a tight game at Fife Ice Arena.

Mike Embach fired Clan ahead after five minutes and it took Fife seven minutes to level.

Carlo Finucci found the net on the power play, with Ian Young and Ricards Birzins assisting.

Bloodoff claimed the first go-ahead goal less than four minutes later on the power play as Clan hit penalty trouble. He was assisted by Liam Heelis and Russ Moyer.

Clan levelled after 38 minutes through Adam Brace and the scoreline stayed at 2-2 until the final whistle.

Then Bloodoff took centre stage, scoring after being set up by Peter LeBlanc and Russ Moyer.

Meanwhile, Dundee Stars claimed a weekend win double over basement rivals Edinburgh Capitals after a nervejangling penalty shoot-out at Murrayfield. Earlier, the sides had been locked at 1-1 at the final whistle and after sudden-death overtime.

Dundee’s pressure told after 10 minutes when player/coach Omar Pacha found the net.

He was left unmarked down the left and fired home a wrist shot into the top corner.

Capitals refused to go away and then claimed the equaliser through Dylan Anderson after 25 minutes on the power play.

The game went from end to end and the points were settled after a tense penalty shot session.

In Dundee, Stars had beaten Capitals 7-4 in their basement battle after being 2-0 down.

Dundee’s four-point weekend means they move on to 25 points and are now only two points behind Milton Keynes Lightning, who have played two more games.
