Pair jailed for vicious attack on Dunfermline bar manager
Two men have been jailed for a “sustained and vicious” assault on the manager of a Dunfermline bar.
The victim was attacked, knocked unconscious and had his head stamped on during the incident, which left him with severe injuries.
David Robertson, 34, of Pentland Terrace, Dunfermline, previously admitted assaulting Colin Harrower on December 21 2016 at Tappie Toories, Kirkgate.
The charge stated he acted with others when he punched Mr Harrower in the face, knocking him to the ground, and that he repeatedly punched him on the head and body, kicked and stamped on his head and left him unconscious.
Scott Simpson, 25, of Oswald Avenue, Grangemouth, admitted the same offence.
Simpson also admitted assaulting another man, Joseph Graham, by repeatedly attempting to punch him and kicking him on the body.
At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, Sheriff Charles MacNair told the pair: “You were in a public house and had been asked to leave for whatever reason. You came back in and then both of you carried out a sustained and vicious attack on the manager.
“Assaults of this sort on members of staff are a very serious matter.
“The manager was trying to do his job the best he could when he was subjected to this assault which.
“He was rendered unconscious for a significant time and also sustained a broken rib.
“I have read the victim impact statement and this assault has had a significant and lasting impact.”
Robertson was jailed for two years and Simpson for 32-anda-half months.
