The tractor’s in noo

-

The poem on the right was written by David J. Miller. His daughter, Elspeth Oliveti says: “I wonder if you would honour my father on his upcoming retirement by publishing his lighthearted poem about the switch from horses to tractors. It is written in East Lothian dialect.

“My father has farmed in Strathmore for the last 24 years and previously in East Lothian, also for 24 years.

“The last pair of horses left the farm when he was nine years old but he worked alongside tractormen who had previously driven horses.”

We are happy to print the poem and hope that readers enjoy it. Wishing you a happy retirement David!
