Back in the game: Mitsubishi launches all-new Shogun Sport
Mitsubishi’s all-new Shogun Sport will cost from £36,905 when it goes on sale in the spring.
The new seven-seater sits between the Eclipse Cross and Outlander in the company’s SUV range. Two separate trim levels will be offered for the new car: Shogun Sport 3 and Shogun Sport 4. Both versions will be equipped with an all-aluminium, 2.4-litre, turbocharged diesel engine producing 181bhp.
The power plant is combined with an all-wheel drive system and a new, eight-speed automatic transmission. It can return a combined 31.4mpg, with CO2 emissions of 222g/km.
Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD II four-wheel drive system can operate in either two-wheel drive or all-wheel drive mode. Drivers can switch seamlessly from one mode to the other to suit conditions. Other drive modes include Hill Descent Control, Trailer Start Assist (TSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and a dedicated off-road mode.
Both trim levels also come with Bluetooth connectivity and a system which allows users to connect to apps or other features of their Apple or Android smartphone through the touchscreen or using voice control.
With the Sport 3 trim leather upholstery, electrically-adjustable front seats, power folding mirrors, LED headlamps and tail lights, dual-zone climate control, reversing camera with rear parking sensors, keyless entry with push-button start, privacy glass and automatic headlamps and wipers come as standard.
The Sport 4 trim is priced from £38,905 and comes with a longer list of features and tech. Heated front seats are added alongside the Power Sound System that comes with a 510W amplifier.
A number of safety and driver assistance systems are also added, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Mitigation, Blind Spot Warning, a 360˚ view camera and the Ultrasonic Mis-Acceleration Mitigation System, which uses front parking sensors to halt acceleration when any obstacles are detected nearby.
