ABERDOUR and DALGETY BAY. President Janette Smith welcomed members and introduced John Burrell who gave an audio-visual presentati­on about Vienna. Competitio­n: shortbread – M Walters.

AMULREE. Members enjoyed a birthday meal at the Tower Hotel, Crieff. AUCHTERTOO­L. The first meeting of 2018 took place in the village hall. Various items were discussed and business completed with a meal of haggis, turnips and potatoes, followed by dumpling and cream, and finished off with cheese and biscuits. As it was our Scots night the haggis was addressed by Mrs Templeton. Competitio­ns: Nancy Fairfield Trophy – three scones – Mrs Thomson; trifle – Mrs Forrester; flower of the month – Mrs Forrester. BALMULLO. President Ann Falconer welcomed members to the first meeting of 2018 and introduced Anne Sweeney who spoke about East Fife Riding for the Disabled. Competitio­ns: three crescent moon shaped biscuits – P Wiles; artificial flower (any descriptio­n) – 1 J Dhanjal, 2 J Redpath, 3 W Whyte; flower of the month – 1 G Baird, 2 V Finlayson, 3 J Redpath. COALTOWN of BALGONIE. Members enjoyed their Christmas dinner at the Beijing Banquet.

CRAIGROTHI­E. A new committee was elected: president, J MacRae; vice-president, A Reid; secretary, A Light; treasurer, C Williamson; press secretary, M Whiteford; competitio­ns, N Gibson; tea convener, A Dorward. Members met for their Christmas lunch after which the following trophies were awarded: points – M Cameron; Bethune Rose Bowl – M Hall, A Reid; Murray cake slice – A Light; best trier – N Arthur; flower of the month – M Hall. EARLSFERRY and ELIE.

President Monica Stewart welcomed members to the Christmas party in the Pavilion. Office-bearers elected: president, Monica Stewart; vice-president, Margaret Lambie; secretary, J Lauritsen; assistant secretary, H Scott; treasurer, Sandy Bingham; assistant treasurer, Janet Amos; press secretary, Irene Murray; entertainm­ent, Robby Wilson; competitio­n secretary, Pat Rowan. Competitio­n: best home-made Christmas hat – L Woodcock.

FALKLAND. President Ina Robertson opened the meeting and the annual beetle drive. Prizewinne­rs – 1 I McBain, 2 P Wells. Competitio­ns: snowy scene postcard – 1 M Gwilliam, 2 J Williamson, 3 J Young.

KILMANY. President Effie Trail welcomed members to the December meeting in Rathillet hall for the Christmas party. Competitio­ns: Christmas parcel – 1 E Trail, 2 Mrs Roberts. In January Effie Trail introduced Sheena Fowler who spoke about her life as a daughter of the manse. Competitio­ns: lentil soup – 1 M Beetleston­e, 2 S Simmers; fun competitio­n – decorative mug – N Bunting; flower of the month – J Forbes.

KILRENNY. Members enjoyed their Christmas meal provided by David Barnett and his staff. Eleanor Blair and Jane MacDonald sang a selection of seasonal songs, accompanie­d by Christine Fyall at the piano. Competitio­ns: four chocolate truffles – 1 A Adam, 2 S Whitehead; dish of chicken pate – S Whitehead; flower of the month – 1 F Guthrie, 2 D Muir.

STAR. President Jane Smith welcomed members and introduced Dorothy Armstrong who entertaine­d with a Scottish night. Competitio­n: Scottish theme brooch – 1 F Meldrum, 2 J Wilson; Highlander biscuits – 1 B Birrell, 2 J Booth. The next meeting is in the village hall at 7.30 on Thursday February 8.
