Golf club on course for good 2018

-

Aberdour Golf Club is looking forward to teeing off the new season with a number of changes.

The course’s 13th and 14th holes have been redesigned by course architect Howard Swan and the club has a new caterer, Alan Matthew, formerly executive chef at Turnberry.

Club professional Allan Knox hopes to further develop junior teaching in his second year at the club.

Ian Dickson, club captain, said: “Our team have been very busy over the winter preparing the course and the clubhouse for the coming season.

“For golfers the most important work in the winter has been the redesign of two holes.”

He said greenkeeper Mark Laing and his team had worked through some quite exceptional winter weather but had completed work on the 13th and 14th holes. These are the holes next to the avenue as golfers walk towards Aberdour.

Allan Knox joined the club as professional at the beginning of last year and has had a successful opening teaching season, with particular success in developing the junior teaching programme on Saturdays.

“These programmes will continue this year and are open to all young golfers interested in golf,” added Mr Dickson.

“At the end of last year Alan Matthew took over the catering franchise and has very quickly developed an excellent reputation for catering in the clubhouse.”
