Livestock auctioned in Stirling

Caledonian Marts Ltd, Stirling, had forward 1,948 prime hoggets, ewes and tups yesterday.

Hoggets due to weather conditions would be short for buyers requirements, and more could have been sold to sellers advantage.

Sale average for 1,252 sold was 187.5ppkg (+0.6ppkg on the week).

Top price of the day went to JB Guthrie, Cuiltburn at £106 for a pair of 51.5kg Beltex Hoggets.

Top price per kg went to HT Shanks, Easter Cash for an outstanding 42.4kg Beltex at 236ppkg. Heavy ewes (141) ave £76.22 selling to £128 for a Texel from J and J Kinloch, Walton, Cardross. Export ewes (222) ave £42.52. With everything in large demand, many more could have been sold to sellers advantage.
