Rome can conquer at Catterick

TIPS: Spirit of Rome has shown some promise over hurdles

- The FerreT

SPIRIT OF ROME can open her account over obstacles in the Racing To School Fillies’ Juvenile Hurdle at Catterick.

The four-year-old failed to strike in 10 starts on the level for James Bethell, but she has shown a bit more promise with a couple of placed efforts over hurdles for Harry Whittington.

Second on her initial effort, she then finished third last time, beaten 12 lengths at Hereford by a rival with a fair bit more experience in the jumping sphere.

Switching to a fillies’ race here could be a good shout and it will be disappointing if Spirit Of Rome is not in the mix at the finish..

LUCKOFTHEDRAW is worth supporting over obstacles in the Superbowl Betting At 188Bet/EBF “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle at Chepstow.

Formerly trained by Christian Williams, he made a great start for Nigel Twiston-Davies when running out an eight-length winner at Ffos Las in November.

He could not follow up under a penalty at Uttoxeter the following month, but he still ran a creditable race in finishing third.

ROCK MY STYLE showed a good attitude to get off the mark at Hereford on his return last month and can make it a double in the 188Bet Daily Racing Specials Novices’ Hurdle.

He looked as though he would improve for a step up in trip that day so the rise here makes perfect sense. SELECTIONS: CATTERICK: 1.20 SPIRIT OF ROME (NAP), 1.50 The Last Day, 2.25 Peppay Le Pugh, 2.55 Niceandeasy, 3.30 Milly Baloo, 4.05 Mount Oliver, 4.35 Perseid.
