KRISTIAN TRIUMPHS Dundee Hawkhill Harrier Kristian Jones won the Forfar Road Runners Multi-Terrain Half-Marathon in commanding style, finishing 12 minutes ahead of runner-up Robbie Dunlop (Dundee RR). The Welsh internatio­nalist covered the 13.1-mile muddy course in 68 minutes 18 seconds followed by Dunlop’s 80.40. Jones’ partner Anwen Darlington (Dundee RR) made it a family double by placing eighth overall and winning the female prize ahead of Dundee Road Runners’ Michelle MacKay, who finished 14th overall. GORDON’S DOUBLE GOLD Dundee Hawkhill veteran Gordon Barre struck double gold at the Scottish Veterans Indoor Championsh­ips at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena, winning both his 800m and 1,500m events. Barrie won the over 45s 800m in two minutes 09.97 seconds before heading the 1,500m field in 4:19.71. In his return to competitio­n, Fife AC’s John Thomson narrowly lost out on the over 55s 1,500m gold medal won by Denis Williams (Shettlesto­n) in 4:57.01 to Thomson’s 4:58.42.

JETHRO’S TWO-IN-A-ROW Shettlesto­n’s Jethro Lennox won the Scottish Veterans Cross-Country title, making it two-in-a-row as he followed up his victory at Camperdown, Dundee, last year with a repeat success at Dean Castle Country Park, near Kilmarnock. Long-serving Dundee Hawkhill member Charlie Haskett took the bronze medal in the over 60 men’s category. Tony Martin (Falkland Trail Runners) won the over-65 race ahead of Frank Hurley of Cambuslang. Steve Cromar (Dundee Hawkhill) claimed the over 75s gold medal with George Black (Fife AC) taking silver. Scotland internatio­nal hill runner Charlotte Morgan won the women’s title with a dominant performanc­e while Karen Kennedy (PH Racing) placed ninth overall taking the over 45 gold medal. PH colleague Mary Western was second in the over 55s category while Isobel Burnett (Carnegie) was a dominant winner of the over 60s title. Innes Bracegirdl­e was third in the over 60s category, helping Fife AC to over 50s team bronze, supported by Keren Macpherson and Hilary Ritchie.
