MSPs urge region’s groups to apply for additional funding

-

Community groups and charities throughout Fife are being urged to apply for funds that could transform their work.

The People’s Postcode Lottery is offering awards of between £500 and £20,000, with applications opening for a fortnight from Wednesday.

Stephen Gethins, MSP for North East Fife, said: “This is an opportunity not to be missed.

“I know that many charities and community groups are already doing fantastic work across the constituency, but I have no doubt that for many this additional funding would be most welcome.

“A successful application could help your group deliver an extra special project or expand an existing service. I would encourage as many local charities and groups to apply.”

Since launching in 2009, the People’s Postcode Trust has awarded more than £14 million to over 1,800 across Britain, while its Local Trust and Community Trust initiatives support a variety of green energy, wildlife, sports and arts initiatives.

Jenny Gilruth, Mid Fife and Glenrothes MSP, also urged people in her constituency to apply online for the additional funds.

She said: “During my time as an MSP I’ve been lucky enough to meet with a number of incredible local charities and community groups.

“The funding offered by the People’s Postcode Lottery could have a real impact on people’s lives in Fife.

“With millions of pounds available to help a range of great causes, I hope charities make use of this excellent opportunity.”

Applications forms can be obtained online and must be submitted by February 28.
