Newgenerationof royals taken to heart

-

Once viewed as a “troubled” royal, Prince Harry’s transformation has been nothing short of remarkable. Not so long ago, one was most likely to see pictures of him stumbling from a bar in the early hours of the morning, but all that has changed.

Now, Prince Harry is seen as a role model and a vital figure as the royal family continues its evolution.

With his bride-to-be by his side, Harry delighted huge crowds during the couple’s first trip north of the border on official business.

He may have been born into what many would regard as enormous privilege, but life has not always been kind to the young royal.

Losing his mother at such a tender age, and in such dramatic and tragic circumstances, must have heralded the kind of torment few of us can truly imagine.

Grieving in private has not always been possible and the reminders of Diana and her legacy have been constant.

Yesterday the Prince and his fiancée took time out to learn more about social issues north of the border, most notably homelessness. Coming from a family that can be seen as austere and distant, it was a significant visit.

Time to remember, perhaps, that away from the sometimes cruel glare of near-constant publicity, the young prince is not too different from any other young man growing up in modern Britain.
