Drunk arrested after threatening to ‘smash’ former partner

-

A Fife man was arrested after a drunken disturbance outside the home of his former partner.

Kieran Duff, 21, of Main Street, Lochgelly, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court. He admitted that on February 3 at Craigie Gardens, Ballingry, he repeatedly shouted, swore, made threats of violence and acted aggressively.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said the couple had split up and Duff had sent the woman a message to say he was going to her house to get his property. She was concerned about this and contacted the police.

Officers picked up the items from her house and took them to Duff, who was “highly intoxicated and refused to listen to them”.

The depute went on: “A vehicle arrived and he got into it.

“The police followed and saw the accused get out of the car at her address. He was shouting and trying to gain entry.”

The depute fiscal said Duff continued shouting and swearing, telling the woman he would kick down the door and “smash” her if she did not let him inside.

Duff also swore at the police, saying he was going into the house and there was nothing they could do about it.

When he tried again to get into the property, he was arrested.

Defence solicitor Roshni Joshi said: “There clearly was something the police could do about it and that’s what they’ve done.

“It’s clearly an unpleasant incident. He was intoxicated and can’t remember what happened.”

Sheriff Simon Collins said: “He was repeatedly told to desist and didn’t.”

He imposed a community payback order with 30 hours of unpaid work.
