Show us how, then, Mr Corbyn
Sir, – Reports on Jeremy Corbyn’s Scottish visit said little about what actually was said in his public meetings other than his assertion that Scotland “desperately needs Labour”. They seemed to focus on the Gaffney issue and SNP claims that he was “completely behind” Theresa May on Brexit.
It’s true, there’s hardly a fag paper between the two leaders on Brexit. I wish they would admit this and sit down and agree a common approach to get a deal that suits the UK and puts an end to all the SNP spoiling tactics, which are only a forlorn ruse to whip up desire for independence.
If I was in one of Mr Corbyn’s meetings and he said we desperately need Labour, I’d be asking him what his party’s policies are for getting Scottish education back to where it was pre-1999, fixing the health service, growing the economy and building a team of politicians capable of winning the 2021 Holyrood elections and consigning this burnedout, divisive SNP government to the political history books.
They’ve delivered little evidence or hope of this so far. Allan Sutherland. 1 Willow Row, Stonehaven.
