TOTH AND EDWARDS ON TOP FORM Robert Toth retained both his men’s singles and doubles titles at the Dundee and District Table Tennis Championsh­ips played at Ward Road Gym on Saturday. Gillian Edwards took three titles, winning the ladies’ singles and doubles and mixed doubles. Paul Monteith stood the seedings on their head by emerging as finalist following wins against Ade Fabola in the quarter-finals and Grant Williams in the last four. Callum Riddoch won a close quarter-final against teammate Stuart Halliday before losing to Robert in the semi-final. Gillian defeated Fiona Kinloch and Emma Bissett on her way to the title and then teamed up with Fiona to beat Emma and Carol McLean in the doubles final. On a well attended day at Ward Road Gym yesterday, Callum Riddoch was the only player to retain his title by winning the Under-21 singles. Junior, cadet and minor girls’ singles – Megan Steel, runner-up – Fatima Al Rubayee. Minor boys’ singles – Mackenzie Rough, runner-up – Euan Steel.
