Theatrical youngsters prepare for a trip down the rabbit hole

-

Students from the Song Shop in Montrose are entering their last two weeks of rehearsal, before presenting their double bill of Alice in Wonderland and Songs to Make You Smile.

With a cast drawn from Montrose, Arbroath, Brechin, Laurencekirk, St Cyrus and Inverbervie, the young performers are hoping for the support of the community over the four-night run.

Song Shop founder Fraser McGlynn said: “We chose Alice in Wonderland as our next show to encourage and nurture the talented youngsters that are coming through our ranks. “They never cease to amaze us with their ability and enthusiasm. “Our teenagers are also producing performances of the highest quality. “I hope that they get the audiences they richly deserve.” The show runs from Tuesday March 13 to Friday March 16 in Montrose Town Hall.

Tickets from £8-£14 are available from Henry Hogg Newsagents in Montrose.

In the first act, pupils from primary one to first year will present Disney’s version of the well-known Lewis Carroll tale.

The young cast has risen to the challenge to bring the Wonderland characters to life, with many taking on principal roles for the first time.

Alice encounters the White Rabbit, twin jabbering clowns Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum and a patch of rude flowers and their exclusive clique, the Golden Afternoon.

The Cheshire Cat directs Alice to the Mad Hatter’s tea party where she experiences a wild game of musical chairs.

Well-known songs from the show are I’m Late, Zip a Dee Doo Dah and Painting the Roses Red.
