Dundee promoters Make That A Take presents a great double line-up of hardcore rock, punk and metal at Conroy’s Basement this weekend.

Tomorrow there’s a three-band line-up headlined by one of the absolute diamonds of the fertile Dundee scene, Indica.

Indica provide hulking slabs of lead-heavy riffage and skyscrapin­g, soulful melodies and are a melting pot of psychedeli­a, hard-as-nails, heads-down metallic shredding and transcende­nt swamp boogies, all underpinne­d by the most thunderous rhythm section in the city.

They’re supported by The Blood Red Moon, featuring members of The Fall of Boss Koala, Stonethrow­er and more, playing their first-ever show. The final band are Holy Snakes, also playing their first Basement show. Doors open at 8pm and it’s £5 for entry.

On Sunday those reformed Scottish crust punk warriors Sedition bring their uncompromi­sing metallic anarcho hardcore punk anthems to Dundee for the first time.

Formed in 1988, Sedition paved the way for the many in Scottish hardcore. Also on that bill are riotous Highland punk girls Bratakus, Fifers Iron System and acoustic anarcho folk-punkster Itinerant, who opens the show.

Doors for this one open at 7pm and it’s £5 for entry.

DJCAD fourth-year interior and environmen­tal design students are bringing back the ruckus with Can I Kick It? – The Next Episode tonight at the Reading Rooms.

Expect nothing but hip hop with Tribe Called Quest, WuTang, Biggie, Tupac and more.

Tickets are £5 in advance from IED students or it’s £6 on the door from 10.30pm.

Jute City Jam returns tomorrow with residents Max Galloway and Ronan Baxter joined at the controls by Ansata.

With hot releases on Hilltown Disco and Blotter Records and lightning skills inside the booth, the JCJ crew will be buzzing for a repeat of last year’s killer set. Gates open at 10.30pm and entry is £5 before midnight, £7 after.

On Wednesday Frequency Sessions hosts its first ‘Meet our Friends’ night, where every month the residents bring guests on board to join them on the decks for incredible collaborat­ions of diverse musical skills.

Expect house and techno with this month’s guest, Jamie Stewart. Entry is £5 all night and gates open at 10.30pm.

After last year’s packed drag bonanza, the second Reckless Kettle Dress to Impress drag party is on Thursday with residents bringing a big box of tunes to get everyone feeling groovy on the dancefloor.

Dressing up is heavily encouraged, although not compulsory, and there’s a prize for the best outfit.

Cherry Bombz are unplugged tonight at McDaniels from 9pm. Tomorrow it’s Restless Natives at 9.30pm.

Cherry Bombz also play the Kettledrum tomorrow from 9.30pm, then City Royal in Brechin at 4pm on Sunday.

The Westport Bar in Dundee has the frontwoman of Stone Preachers cover band, Stephanie Gibson, from 10pm tomorrow. Entry is free.

Junkyard Dogs play two gigs at Number 57 this weekend, starting with tomorrow’s tea-time teaser session at 5.30pm, then it’s their usual Sunday residency from 7pm.

Headroom kick off the weekend of live music at The Bank Bar tonight from around 9.30pm.

Sinderins’ Stevie Anderson and Dave Webster are on at the same time tomorrow.

Songwriter­s’ Sunday is hosted by Gav McGinty and Martin Tino Allan at 8.30pm.

Dave Webster is back on Wednesday at 8.30pm for his open mic night.

Cool Cat Club presents Martin Metcalfe and the Fornicator­s at Beat Generator Live tonight.

Tonight at Clark’s on Lindsay Street it’s ‘acoustic-ish’ punk, mod and indie revivalist­s Ganked.

The Funkin’ Idiots bring floor-filling funk and disco tomorrow. Both start at 9.30pm with free entry before midnight.

There’s a pop-up fair on Sunday afternoon with live music from Connor Liam Byrne at 3pm followed at 7.30pm by The Sunday Song Club, hosted by Steph Fraser.

The latest Rhumba Club party at the Ice Factory in Perth takes place tomorrow.

Denis Sulta, Jasper James, Andrew Weatherall and Justin Robertson, Kelvin Andrews, Groovement and Rhumba Residents will all be there. It’s a sellout but those without tickets can always join the pre-party at That Bar from 7pm.
