Scottish businesswomen honoured
A Tayside entrepreneur has secured an opportunity to promote her businesses to members of the global investment community.
Carolyn Hogg’s Cascade Water Products, an Arbroath-based maker of domestic micro greywater reuse systems, was one of six female-led firms recognised in the growth category at this year’s AccelerateHER Awards.
The other winners, unveiled at the Investing Women Ambition and Growth conference in Edinburgh, were uFraction8, CogniHealth, TeqNox, IntelliDigest and Sustainably.
The winners can select either a market-building trip to Dubai in April or to California in September, where they will meet international investors.
The AccelerateHER Awards competition, now in its third year, is open to businesswomen whose companies demonstrate strong growth potential.
Jackie Waring, CEO of Investing Women, said about 190 women entered this year’s competition.
She said: “I would like to congratulate all our winners, who are dynamic females driving forward great businesses with real investment potential.
“The platform AccelerateHER provides a huge opportunity for all these entrepreneurs.
“We are seeing an immensely positive impact from the AccelerateHER Awards, with the winners from the first two years securing more than £3.75 million of investment since getting involved.”
Meanwhile the Association of Scottish Businesswomen (ASB) presented their Women of Inspiration Awards.
Among the 12 winners was Scottish Chambers of Commerce chief executive Liz Cameron, recognised for her “trailblazing” contribution to the growth of Scotland’s business sector.
Another winner was Dundee-based Coca Cola 5by20 programme director Angie Foreman, praised for mentoring and confidence-building skills.
“We were overwhelmed by the number of nominations received this year, celebrating the contributions and achievements of women from all walks of life,” said ASB president Wendy Maltman .
“Each of these women are impacting the businesses and communities in which they live and work.
“They are passionate and pioneering business leaders and selfless and committed charity champions, inspiring and encouraging those around them to overcome barriers and reach their own goals.”
