Arbroath changes after ‘strange game’

-

The Manager of the Month ‘curse’ may have struck early for Dick Campbell but the Arbroath boss is determined to take the positives out of the midweek defeat at Alloa into today’s derby with Forfar.

Forty-eight hours before the Gayfield gaffer won his latest accolade for February, the Red Lichties travelled to face the Wasps on Tuesday night determined to open up a gap on the side just behind them in fourth place in the League 1 table.

Instead, they suffered a 5-3 defeat at the Indodrill Stadium, with Campbell admitting some of the goals conceded were of the slapstick variety.

The fact Arbroath fought back strongly was a pleasing factor, although he insisted there will still be changes for this afternoon’s home match against Jim Weir’s side.

Campbell said: “It was a really strange game at Alloa. We should not lose goals like that – four of them were a comedy of errors.

“These things can happen but I am determined to turn a negative into a positive. We finished the game really well and Alloa were glad to hear the final whistle.

“It was a bad night at the office, so to speak, but there will definitely be a few changes from midweek and I named my team on Thursday evening.

“Forfar may be thinking on the back of their recent positive results and our bad result during the week that they can come to Gayfield and get something.

“Knowing Jim, he will have them fired up for the derby – but we are also certainly ready for the game.”

Arbroath have no injury concerns although Gavin Swankie is unavailable for the match.
