Biodiversity expert to give talk
A renowned expert on biodiversity is to speak at the Ecology Centre, as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Johanna Willi is to give a talk at the Kinghorn centre’s AGM on Wednesday.
She will speak about the importance of biodiversity and share her experience from her role as Fife Council’s biodiversity coordinator and previous work with RSPB and the Woodland Trust Scotland.
Centre general manager David Stockwell said: “We are very excited to have Johanna as our guest speaker.
“She is a well-renowned expert on biodiversity, an important global, national and local issue and a source of focus for our ecological work.”
Johanna said: “Most of us delight in watching wildlife and appreciate biodiversity for the rich, colourful and fascinating tapestry it creates.
“Biodiversity is, of course, valuable in its own right.
“What some of us perhaps don’t appreciate is just how fundamental it is to our everyday lives.
“From the food we eat to providing important services, biodiversity affects our daily quality of life.”
“There are so many committed and enthusiastic people working on the nature conservation scene in Fife.”
Plans for celebrating the Ecology Centre’s anniversary will also be detailed at the AGM, starting at 7pm at the Barn at the Loch, Craigencalt Farm.
