Tayport make point with comeback against Thistle

In the only fixture to be played, Tayport twice had to come from behind to draw with Bathgate Thistle at the Canniepair­t, but were left rueing missed chances for not picking up three points.

There was an early setback for Port with JamesJohn Henderson giving the visitors a secondminu­te lead.

However, the home side hit back on nine minutes – Jamie Gill hammering home a Dayle Robertson cross.

Having passed upnumerous chances, a James Thomas goal shortly before the break saw Charlie King’s men trailing at the interval.

But seven minutes after the restart Dayle Robertson equalised with his first goal for the club. North League In a hastily rearranged fixture, leaders North End made it fifteen consecutiv­e league wins after a 2-0 home success over Scone Thistle.

With this victory widening the gap over second-placed Violet to eight points, it is now a question of if rather than when their promotion to the Premier League is confirmed.

Nathan Scott gave them a half-time lead and Frankie Devine made sure with a second after the break.

Meanwhile, in the only other match played, Blairgowri­e eased their way to a 5-1 win over Forfar Albion at Davie Park.

Ryan Menzies scored midway through the first period and Gary Axworthy, Ian Plenderlei­th and James Simpson took the half-time tally to four.

Adam Fraser did pull one back for Albion early in the second half, but Matt Adam completed the scoring 10 minutes from time. South League In the only game to beat the weather, Oakley United were 4-2 winners over Livingston at Blairwood Park to extend boss Richard Fox’s winning start to five straight victories.

That has taken them to the fringe of the promotion race.

Paying tribute to the players for their efforts, Fox said, “When I came in I thought the team were in a false position and I was confident that with a few tweaks we would get a run going.

“The players have been fantastic training and that has reaped its reward on the pitch.

“Initially, my thoughts were mainly on building for next season and there was no real expectatio­n of promotion.

“But with eight games left and so many points at stake, we’ll just have to see where that takes us. At the moment, we are taking one game at a time.”

Joe Dawson hit a double with Dan Greig and Graham Moore also on target. Montrose Roselea Montrose Roselea’s interest in the Domino’s Pizza North Regional Cup was ended by Dyce who were worthy 3-0 winners at Ian Mair Park.
