Saints women up into third

-

St Johnstone’s women enjoyed a convincing 3-1 victory over Hearts at the weekend which sees the side move up to third in the SWPL2 table.

They had to come from behind at McDiarmid Park, with Laura Dunn’s 25-yard free-kick making it 1-1 at half-time.

Sixteen-year-old striker Hannah Clark gave Saints the lead and it wasn’t until the third minute of stoppage time that Eilidh McIntyre sealed the three points and made it two wins out of three in the league so far.

Manager Jason McCrindle said: “We’ve got a young side but most have that bit of experience now to see games out which is something we struggled with last season a couple of times.

“It was a great three points, but it was the manner in which we won that really pleased me.”

Next up is a trip to bottomof-the-table Glasgow Girls.

Forfar Farmington were beaten 2-0 at home by Celtic in the SWPL1. The hosts held the Hoops until the second half when strikes from Claire Adams and Kelly Clark gave Celtic the win.

Forfar are away to Stirling University on Sunday.

Raith Rovers beat Cove Rangers 4-2 in Division One North.

Dundee United Community Trust’s women’s only session is on Fridays from 7-8pm at Manhattan Works.
