A 20-year-old man from Glenrothes has been convicted of murdering a dad of three.

Greig Love stabbed Daniel O’Farrell three times in his upper body at his home in the town’s Greenlaw Terrace in September.

Police forced entry to Mr O’Farrell’s house where they found him lifeless and called paramedics who pronounced him dead at the scene.

Mr O’Farrell had become a father for the third time just 10 days before – describing himself as “the happiest dad alive” shortly before his death.

Detective Inspector Stewart Andrew of Glenrothes CID said: “This was an unfortunate set of circumstances and two men’s lives have been ruined as a result.”

Love yesterday pleaded guilty to the murder and will be sentenced next month at the High Court in Glasgow.

Mr O’Farrell’s bride-to-be, Megan Walton previously said she had been left “shattered” by his death.

A man was yesterday convicted of the murder of a father of three in Glenrothes.

Greig Love, 20, of Glenrothes, pleaded guilty to the murder of 21-yearold Daniel O’Farrell at the High Court in Glasgow.

Mr O’Farrell was stabbed three times by Love on his upper body at his home in Greenlaw Crescent on the morning of September 9.

Officers attended at the house in the town’s Macedonia area and forced entry to Mr O’Farrell’s house where they found him and called paramedics, who pronounced him dead at the scene.

Love attended Glenrothes Police Station shortly afterwards where he admitted the attack to detectives.

Mr O’Farrell’s daughter Sophiah – his third child – was born seven weeks early on August 30, just 10 days before his murder.

Detective Inspector Stewart Andrew of Glenrothes CID said: “This was an unfortunate set of circumstances and two men’s lives have been ruined as a result.

“The local community were very supportive of our investigation and I want to thank people for their cooperation as we conducted inquiries in the area at the time.”

Mr O’Farrell, who was originally from Perth but lived in Kirkcaldy, described himself in an online post before he died as “the happiest dad alive”.

Megan Walton, the mother of two of his children, previously said she had been left “shattered” by Mr O’Farrell’s death.

She said: “Heartbroken is not even close to this feeling losing your fiancé – and having your kids left without their father is the worst part.

“Always know no one will ever take your place in my family.

“It’s always been you, always will be you.

“This was the best thing you ever did with your life, being a father.

“Just can’t believe you’ll never see your babies grow up but I promise I will always keep them safe and be a brilliant mother to them for you.

“Your girls Lillie Angela Marion Walton and Sophiah Heather Mary O’Farrell will always love their daddy.”

Mr O’Farrell also has a one-year-old daughter, Laycie.

Love is due to be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on April 26.
