FOWLIS WESTER. President Wilma Brown welcomed members. Competitions: mitts – 1 W Brown, 2 H Walker, 3 A Hubbard; jar of marmalade – 1 A Pritchard, 2 E Knox, 3 W Brown.
KETTLE and DISTRICT. Fiona Wilson explained many of the different techniques involved in her hobby of glass work. Competitions: a decorated glass – 1 L Strachan, 2 M Drummond, 3 E Bruhn; flower of the month – H Lumsden.
KILCONQUHAR and COLINSBURGH. President Elizabeth Goodall welcomed members and introduced Mr and Mrs W George Smith who gave a demonstration of their unique shawls. Competitions: my favourite shawl – 1 M Jack, 2 F Winton; flower of the month – I Hamilton.
KILMANY. President Mrs Trail welcomed members to the February meeting in Rathillet hall. Competitions: bookmark – 1 S Simmers, 2 M Beetlestone; flower of the month – E Traill.
KILRENNY . At the January meeting members enjoyed a Burns Supper followed by a quiz and raffle. Competitions: shortbread – 1 S Whitehead, 2 F Guthrie; flower of the month – 1 M Hutchison, 2 F Guthrie, 3 D Muir. At the February meeting Andy Johnson gave an illustrated talk about his three-week trip through the Hebrides. Competitions: heart-shaped lavender bag (any craft) – 1 J Watson, 2 F Guthrie, 3 E Lowson; flower of the month – 1 S Whitehead, 2 D Muir, 3 J Watson, 4 F Guthrie. In March Amy Thomson presided and welcomed visitors from Elie and Earlsferry at which a bring-and-buy sale raised £106. Monica Stewart introduced Margaret Lambie who demonstrated two starters and two desserts, all with Scottish ingredients. Lexie Woodcock showed a number of winter headbands she had knitted. Honor Woodcock read two poems and played some Scottish tunes on her mouth organ. The annual Meg Shearer trophy was awarded to Sue Whitehead for her fish paté and individual cheesecake. Competition: flower of the month – 1 M Hutcheson, 2 A Thomson, 3 M Lowrie. KINROSS. The Kinross group held its spring meeting in Milnathort Town Hall. The Ramage Dawson competition, a comedy fashion show, was judged by Betty Stratton of Fife Federation. Cleish won and received the Ramage Dawson Trophy, Glenfarg were runners-up and received the Erskine Trophy. The best individual performance was awarded to Liz Yuill (Glenfarg) who received the Jessie Smith Trophy.
KIRKFORTHAR FEUS. Competitions: door stop – 1 N Stewart, 2 M Dowie, 3 J Smart; flower of the month – N Stewart.
NEW GILSTON and WOODSIDE. President Jean Carr welcomed coach driver and charity worker Mike Reid, who spoke about growing up and wanting to drive and his charity work. Competitions: one Valentinethemed cupcake – 1 S Fox, 2 C Guthrie, 3 P Coutts-Wood; one small jar of rhubarb and ginger jam – 1 S Fox, 2 N Buchanan; flower of the month – P Coutts-Wood.
PITCAIRNGREEN. President Audrey Michie introduced Laura from Wiltshire Farm Foods who spoke about the ready meals the firm delivered to homes and offered samples to taste. Competitions: twiddle muff – 1 A Michie, 2 I Stewart; Scottish brooch – 1 A Michie, 2 C Milne, 3 J Colville; favourite teddy – 1 A Michie, 2 F Wylie, 3 I Hutchison.
STAR. PC Mark Anderson, area crime prevention officer, gave a talk to the February meeting. Competitions: bowl of bulbs – J Findlay and B Birrell; verse including flowers – B Birrell. At the March meeting Jane Smith welcomed members and introduced Ronnie McClean. Competitions: rhubarb and ginger jam – B Birrell; knitted Easter egg cover – 1 F Meldrum, 2 J Findlay; flower arrangementinashoe–1F Meldrum, 2 J Cook.
