Dramatic turnaround for home

-

Balhousie Forth View care home was awarded “very good” ratings after a recent Care Inspectorate visit.

The service, in Sea Road, Methil, was awarded the grades in the categories of management and leadership, and care and support.

It marks a dramatic turnaround for Forth View, which in January 2015 was told to make changes after management and leadership were described as “unsatisfactory” and care and support as “weak”.

Since then, the service has steadily improved, according to subsequent inspections.

Gordon Candlish, care home manager at Balhousie Forth View, said: “Our latest grading from the Care Inspectorate is a culmination of many months of hard work from every member of the team here at Balhousie Forth View and it is incredibly well deserved.

“Our focus on person-centred care has been embraced by our staff, residents and their families and has enabled residents to be more involved in decision making.”

The report said: “Staff were good at giving care and support in a respectful, kind manner whilst promoting dignity and privacy.

“Relatives spoke of being kept up to date on their relatives’ health needs and felt confident that they would be informed of any changes in their relatives’ care.

“Staff told us they felt well supported in their role and felt ‘listened to’.”
