Care worker faces allegation of refusing to take resident to toilet

-

A care assistant accused of refusing to take a resident to the toilet will appear before a panel next month.

Donna Stevenson is also alleged to have shouted in another resident’s face “you don’t need the toilet”.

The former care assistant with Abbotsford Care faces a raft of allegations dating between March 2014 and June 2016, when she worked at a residential home in Dunfermline.

She will appear at a Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) hearing in Dundee.

Stevenson is accused of refusing to take a resident to the toilet and stating “you’ve just been to the toilet.”

The resident was allegedly also told: “If you don’t get up with the nightshift I will keep you in your bed until 12.”

There is also an allegation that she told a different resident: “Shut the f*** up because I am not listening to you shouting all day.”

And on or around October 13, 2014, Stevenson is accused of telling a colleague “what f ****** use are you then” or words to that effect, when the colleague said she had not completed moving and handling training yet.

If the complaints are upheld by the SSSC, and it is found Stevenson is not fit to practise, she could face sanctions.

The SSSC said: “A worker is fit to practise if they meet the standards of character, conduct and competence necessary for them to do their job safely and effectively with particular regard to the Code of Practice for Social Service Workers and the Code of Practice for Employers of Social Service Workers.”

The hearing has been scheduled to take place over five days starting on Monday at Compass House.
