Nonios to make no mistake at Chelmsford

Tips: 6lb penalty should not prove a problem for Simcock’s in-form charge who returns to course he really enjoys

- The Ferret

NONIOS seems to have got his act together again now and he can hit the target in the totequadpot Races 3 To 6 Handicap at Chelmsford.

David Simcock’s charge had been without a win since September 2016 before scoring at Chelmsford in January, and he has since gone in again at that track last week.

Admittedly he failed to hit the mark in three starts in the interim, but he was thereabouts on each of those occasions and is clearly in pretty consistent form at present.

His victory a week ago means he carries a 6lb penalty this time, but he looked as though he had plenty in hand as he cruised past a decent yardstick in King Kevin to win by half a lengthy over this course and distance.

Nonios is on a career high mark now but is clearly thriving and should give a good account.

ESPADRILLE was a comfortable winner at Kempton back in November and it will be disappointing if she cannot pick up the thread in the toteexacta Pick The 1st And 2nd Fillies’ Novice Stakes.

An impeccably-bred daughter of Dubawi, she made every yard of the running over a mile at the Sunbury track and given the way she kept up the gallop, a switch to 10 furlongs should be well within her compass.

POET’S PRINCE made the most of a slight dip in class to win at Southwell on his return and his confidence should be riding high ahead of the totetrifecta Pick The 1,2,3 Handicap.

A 3lb rise for his win at the start of the month does not seem too harsh and he can take a step back up in quality in his stride.

GLANCE BACK showed an admirable attitude to win a modest event at Leicester last time and a similar effort should be good enough in the Follow At Racing-UK On Twitter Now Handicap Chase at Wetherby.

While he made slightly hard work of that half-length victory, he found plenty under pressure and appeals as a lightly raced individual.

The handicapper has not gone mad in raising him just 4lb and Glance Back can take full advantage. SELECTIONS CHELMSFORD: 2.20 Huddersfilly Town, 2.55 Espadrille, 3.30 NONIOS (NAP), 4.05 Poet’s Prince, 4.35 Sonnet Rose, 5.05 Captor, 5.35 La Fortuna, 6.05 Give Us A Belle.
