Hat-trick helps Bo’ness sweep Jeanfield aside

Super league: Swifts brought back to earth with a bump after last week’s victory over Penicuik Athletic

Jeanfield Swifts could not build on last week’s win against Penicuik Athletic as they were well beaten 5-1 at Bo’ness United.

Calum Scott scored after just 10 minutes to give United the lead and it stayed that way until 10 minutes after half-time when a Stuart Hunter effort was turned into the net off a Jeanfield body to make it 2-0.

Scott then added a third on 63 minutes before completing his hat-trick just five minutes later.

Rhys Davies pulled one back for Ross Gunnion’s side but Marty Wright restored the four-goal cushion with a fifth Bo’ness goal in added time.

Broughty Athletic threw away a twogoal lead and had to settle for a point as Hill of Beath netted a penalty in stoppage time.

Darrin Wright put Haws in front from the penalty spot after eight minutes but Derryn Kesson equalised 15 minutes later.

The Fed went in front on 34 minutes through Greg McNaughton and when Kevin Milne made it 3-1 with 20 minutes to go it looked like the points would be staying at Whitton Park.

However, Kevin Connors pulled one back on 75 minutes and Wright scored his second penalty deep into injury time to earn a point for the visitors.

Lochee United enjoyed a 3-1 win over Broxburn Athletic at Thomson Park.

Grant Lawson put the Scottish Junior Cup semi-finalists in front after 15 minutes but the visitors levelled right on half-time.

Two goals in seven minutes midway through the second half from the returning Bryan Deasley made sure of victory.

Rain put paid to a number of fixtures at the weekend.

The Super League game at Moorside Park between Dundonald Bluebell and Forfar West End was called off and, with just an hour before kick-off, the game between Carnoustie Panmure and Kennoway Star Hearts was also postponed.

The match referee had given it the goahead after an early inspection.
