TALKS: Organisers want more firms to get involved in enterprise month

It is hoped a month-long programme of events in Perth and the surrounding area will support and inspire the region’s businesspeople.

Perth and Kinross Business and Enterprise Month (PKBEM) will run throughout May with a schedule targeted at several sectors of the district’s economy.

The month is supported by Elevator, Business Gateway, Perthshire Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Small Businesses, Perth and Kinross Council, Scottish Enterprise and Perth College UHI.

Chairman of the steering group, Andrew Burnett — director of operations with Elevator and Business Gateway — is interested in hearing from local professionals who would like to host or take part in an event.

He explained: “PKBEM has traditionally been organised and delivered by the core partners.

“For 2018 we decided to invite other organisations to get involved and host relevant workshops, seminars, presentations and events aimed at addressing issues pertinent to today’s businesses and the local economy.

“While there is already a fairly extensive programme on offer, we would be happy to take on board any event ideas that businesses or organisations want to put forward.”

A new website — pkbem.co.uk — has full details of the programme and allows people to book or host events.

Among the companies putting on events are Tayscreen, East of Scotland Food and Drink Network, Co-operative Development Scotland and GrowBiz.

The PKBEM partners will also be staging key themed talks during the month.

“Perth and Kinross businesses can help offer a greater diversity of events and help identify what our local businesses and our economy need in the way of information, support and guidance,” Mr Burnett added.

“Our objective is to inspire and educate local businesses and entrepreneurs through a programme of engaging and relevant events.”

Any business, organisation or individual interested in hosting is asked to sign up online or contact Ross Cairney from Elevator at ross@elevatorUK.com
