Assai Recordings signing Brownbear bring their wonderfull­y rootsy, acoustic pop sounds to the Broughty Ferry shop tomorrow for a live performanc­e to mark Record Store Day 2018.

The Glasgow-based musical collective, led by singer/songwriter Matt Hickman, are also celebratin­g the release of their debut album What Is Home?, which hits the shops today.

Having supported both The Libertines and The View, the band were one of the first signings to the label, which was launched last year.

Keith Ingram of Assai Recordings said: “This is a concise and immaculate­lycrafted collection, the album’s tracks recall the aforementi­oned Libs/View axis’ upbeat pop hooks, but delivered with a rootsy acoustic drive.”

Edinburgh’s Broken Records also make an appearance ahead of their show in Church on Saturday night.

You can catch both bands at Assai Records at 4pm tomorrow.

Brownbear will also return to Clark’s on Lindsay Street for a full album launch show on May 3.

Paul Lamb and the King Snakes bring some blues to Backstage at the Green in Kinross on Sunday.

The veteran blues-harp man and his merry band of brothers have paid their dues over four decades and are rightly seen as one of the best blues outfits in the UK scene.

Paul himself has represente­d Britain in the World Harmonica Championsh­ips, and over the years Paul Lamb and the King Snakes have won countless awards, sold record breaking quantities of albums and been inducted into the British Blues Awards Hall of Fame alongside the likes of Peter Green and John Mayall. Promoters Empire Wave bring their first event of the year to Clark’s on Lindsay Street on Thursday.

Indie punk band from Dundee, Ark Royal are headlining the show, which is set to be a great night of music from local talent in the city.

Their brilliant new single Bring It Down will not disappoint and is sure to get the place bouncing.

Support on the night comes from exciting young band The Medinas, whose hit single Daisy Chains has gained more than 20,000 listens on Soundcloud, which shows they’re really on the rise.

Clark’s on Lindsay Street brings back some great popular rock sounds from The Collective, always a hugely entertaini­ng Friday night.

Tomorrow night the excellent Abandon return with some pop gems and rock classics. Both gigs are free entry before midnight and the music starts around 9.30pm.

The Sunday Song Club this week is hosted by Jock (Mike) Ferrie, the “white James Brown” from top funk/soul outfit Funk Connection, along with Ruairidh MacLean and special guests and some open mic spots.

The music starts at 7.30pm and all are welcome at what is usually a hugely entertaini­ng night.

Tonight’s Reckless Kettle at the Reading Rooms kicks off with live music from Scottish post punk group Boots For Dancing, who originally formed in Edinburgh in the late 70s before reforming in 2015, and Objectifie­d, a Glaswegian group who supported The Fall last year.

Tomorrow it’s the Locarno boys Red, Steven, Reuben and Max with their alternativ­e slice of 50s and 60s rock ‘n’ roll, soul, surf, pop, garage and more.

Entry is £5 before midnight (£4 for students) or £7 after and gates open at 10.30pm.

Number 57’s tea time teaser session features local legends Tripper tomorrow from 5.30pm.

That’s followed at 9pm by Cara Sylvester and Chris Marra.

The Junkyard Dogs are in their usual Sunday residency at 7pm.

Cherry Bombz are unplugged at Admiral Bar tonight at 8.30pm then on Sunday the group head to Neptune Bar in Montrose from 3pm. McDaniels has acoustic covers from Kieron Smart at 9pm tonight. Tomorrow it’s The Elaine Stewart Band from 9.30pm.

Beat Generator Live welcomes Saint Louie to their Lindsay Street venue tomorrow night.

The show is organised by the band to showcase their new tunes and they are also welcoming young bands The Capollos from Aberdeen, Ruvellas and The Medinas from Dundee.

Doors open at 7.30pm and entry is £6, available from the bands, or on the door on the night.

Free music at the Bank Bar tonight comes from the delightful duo of Connor Liam Byrne and Nicola Madill.

Tomorrow night The Rain Kings are there and both gigs are free entry from around 9.30pm.

Songwriter­s Sunday is with Gav McGinty and Martin Tino Allan. That’s from 8.30pm and again it’s free.

Wednesday’s Open Mic Night with Dave Webster starts around 8.30pm and all are welcome to come along and join in.
