Young keen to atone for Arbroath drubbing

East Fife manager Darren Young is determined to make up for last weekend’s 5-0 home defeat from Arbroath against his old club Albion Rovers today.

He said: “We actually played well in the opening 30 minutes and had a couple of decent chances but we then lost a goal from a cross that should have been cut out.

“Things slipped away after that and we will be looking to bounce back and return to winning ways.

“We need another four points to match last season’s total and to me that is an important milestone to hit. If we can win this game that would take us close to that total and give us the chance to better it against Stranraer next weekend.”

The Coatbridge side have lost their last seven and sit in ninth place, ahead of Queen’s Park on goal difference.

Young said: “There is a certain irony in that my assistant Tony McMinn and I could play a part in sending Albion Rovers to the foot of the table, however that is not something we are really focused on. We are focused on putting a team out that will win the game.

“I will be making changes from the Arbroath game but they will be more tactical than for punishment.

“We were there earlier in the season and were ahead before losing but we have learned from that.”

Jonathan Page, Craig Watson and Kevin Smith all return, while Darren Young will name himself as a sub again as Chris Kane is suspended, Mark Docherty is out and Scott Linton and Mark Lamont are struggling.
