Campbell has some big decisions to make

-

Arbroath boss Dick Campbell admits he has a lot to consider now that his side has secured its place in the promotion play-offs.

The Red Lichties finally ensured their season would extend beyond the regulation 36 games when they thumped East Fife 5-0 at Bayview last week.

The only side that could have caught them, Stranraer, produced a stunning result of their own, beating title favourites Ayr United.

However, with just two games left they are still six points behind Arbroath but with a massively inferior goal difference.

Campbell’s men now have two games of the regular season to see out, starting against Airdrie at home this afternoon and the veteran manager is determined they will continue building momentum going into the play-offs.

The Gayfield gaffer said: “The lads certainly did the business at East Fife last week.

“It was obviously pleasing to win so convincingly with five different players on the scoresheet.

“It was a good win but at the end of the day, it is just another three points.

“We are now confirmed in the playoffs which means I have some big decisions to make.

“For instance, Tam O’Brien is struggling for the game with Airdrie so I have to weigh all that up but it is unlikely we will take any chances with him ahead of the play-offs.

“We will look to keep our momentum going in the two remaining regular league games but I know from experience that the form book can go out the window when the play-offs come around.

“I honestly do not care who we end up playing once they begin – it is not an issue for me – but we will concentrate on that when they come.

“Our full focus before that has to be on the games remaining so we will be going all out to take three points against Airdrie at Gayfield.”
