Crossgates need victory to stay in promotion race

-

Crossgates face a crunch game against leaders Pumpherston at Humbug Park.

They cannot catch their visitors but must win if they are to stay in with a shout of filling the second promotion place.

It will be an emotional day at Recreation Park with Rosyth hoping for a big crowd to mark Oakley United’s visit for the last match to be staged at the ground.

The Recs are moving to the Fleet Grounds, Rosyth, and awaiting the developers being in touch now that planning permission has been granted.

Recs are without Ryan O’Connor and Gav McCann and a knee injury makes Mark McCulloch a doubt.

It is also defensive stalwart Gregg Robertson’s last game as a player before moving on to their committee next season.

Oakley, who suffered their first defeat under manager Richard Fox last week, welcome back Jack Cowan after suspension but James McAteer misses out.

After the disappointing performance when losing at Crossgates last week, changes are afoot in the Lochgelly Albert line-up that faces third-placed Armadale at Volunteer Park. The Berts have everyone available. Kirkcaldy YM travel to Easthouses Lily for their final away game of the season.

The moment of truth awaits Kelty Hearts this afternoon.

Less than 12 months after leaving the junior ranks, they are on the brink of clinching the East of Scotland League and boasting a 100% record.

Victory at nearest challengers Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale would earn them a play-off with South of Scotland League champions Threave Rovers for a place in next season’s Lowland League.
