Cowden looking ahead to battle for league survival

Cowdenbeat­h begin preparatio­ns for their end of season fight for survival at Berwick Rangers this afternoon.

The Central Park men will meet either Highland League champions Cove Rangers or Lowland League winners Spartans in the pyramid play-off with Bollan saying: “Our season starts now in lots of ways as we have to be in the best possible position for two weeks when we meet either Cove or Spartans.

“We have started our off-the-field work on them by taking in games.

“Whoever wins their play-off will get our full respect and we will use the time we have now to have the best team we can ready for the challenge.”

Bollan will make changes for the trip to the side that sits immediatel­y above them in the League Two table.

He explained: “It is not just a case of keeping players fresh, it is case of giving everyone the chance to show me that they should be involved in two crucial games for the club.

“We will manage injuries and suspension­s to an extent.

“However, we want to have the best XI we can starting the play-off games and if a players takes their chance to impress well they will play in them.”

Bollan added: “Berwick have no pressure on them and that means they can play freely.

“It is game we want to win to ensure that things are as positive as possible.”
