Thrashing for Hearts leaves Swifts out front

-

Kennoway Star Hearts are now five points adrift of Jeanfield Swifts with a game in hand following a 4-1 defeat at Bo’ness United, writes Mark Johnston.

Two goals from Ross Campbell on 22 and 36 minutes saw United in control until Matthew Gay pulled a goal back for the Fife side just before half time.

Ryan Millar made it 3-1 to the hosts just after the hour before David Gray hit a screamer from 30 yards to make it 4-1 with seven minutes remaining.

Hill of Beath went down 2-1 at title contenders Bonnyrigg Rose and dropped two places to the edge of the relegation battle. Lee Currie put Rose in front on 35 minutes and two minutes after half time Wayne McIntosh doubled the advantage.

A great strike from Charlie Denton pulled a goal back for Haws but they could not find an equaliser.

Jordan Garden was hero and villain for Broughty Athletic at Jeanfield Swifts.

Garden put his side in front in the first half but was then sent off on the hour mark. Swifts equalised with 15 minutes left through Daniel Kelly but Broughty managed to hold out for a point from a drab encounter.

A Jamie Montgomery strike put Forfar West End in front at Newtongrange Star after just seven minutes but that was as good as it got for Daryl McKenzie’s side.

Dale O’Hara equalised for Star from the spot on 15 minutes before the hosts went in front on 44 minutes thanks to an own goal.

A header from Ryan Porteous made it 3-1 just before the hour and an O’Hara free kick completed the scoring with five minutes remaining.

Carnoustie Panmure took a deserved and vital point from their visit to Penicuik Park but it could and should have been all three for Alan McSkimming’s side.

The sides had gone in level at half-time but within two minutes of the restart Penicuik were down to 10 men when Andy Forbes was sent off for a deliberate handball and the Gowfers were awarded a penalty. Sam Simpson had the responsibility but saw his penalty saved by Kyle Allison, who kept Carnoustie out with a number of fine saves.

Carnoustie themselves were reduced to 10 men in stoppage time when Ryan Roche was shown a second yellow card.
