Harp well in tune at Vics

-

Two goals from midfielder Lloyd Young and strikes from Liam Roddie and Josh Perera gave Lochee Harp a comfortable win at Arbroath Vics

Two wins from the remaining four games will see Dundee North End crowned North League champions following their win at Blairgowrie.

A quickfire double from Ryan Smith on 43 and 45 minutes saw North End lead 2-0 at half-time before strikes from Ryan Rigden on 58 and Kieran Sturrock on the hour saw the visitors into a 4-0 lead. Smith completed his hat-trick on 68 minutes before Gordon Norrie pulled a goal back on 73 minutes. Barrie Pullar scored North End’s sixth with seven minutes remaining.

A contentious decision to send off Brechin Vics player boss Phil McGuire by the referee turned their game at home to Violet.

Vics led thanks to a first half strike by Jamie Gauld and had missed a second half penalty but it all turned following Ross Bell’s equaliser on 87 minutes.

After the goal, McGuire kicked the ball towards goal but it was deflected behind by a touch from a Violet player.

The official deemed it as time wasting and showed McGuire a second yellow card.

Violet took full advantage, with Craig Batchelor and Gavin Thomson scoring in the last two minutes to put a fortuitous look on the scoreline.

Lochore Welfare took all the points from Coupar Angus’s visit to Foxhall Park with a Ben Rolland goal.

Forfar Albion went down 5-1 at home to Dundee East Craigie. Nik Mann and Adam Brown both scored twice alongside a goal from James Malone, while Michael McBrearty scored for Albion.

Newburgh were soundly beaten by Kinnoull at East Shore park.

Mark Smith put Kinnoull in front on nine minutes against Newburgh before Ben Ragen made it 2-0 on 20 minutes.

Gavin Reilly pulled a goal back for ’Burgh but Smith hit his second to send the Perth side into the break leading 3-1. Greg Whyte scored from the spot to make it four just after half-time and Jack Hutchison made it 5-1 after 68 minutes. The rout was completed by Darren Gray with 10 minutes remaining.

Luncarty’s hopes of promotion were dealt a blow as Scone Thistle beat their visitors 2-1. Kieran Donald put Luncarty in front but strikes from Stephen Moon, on 51 and 77 minutes, saw Thistle win.
