Farmington can take positives in defeat
Forfar side narrowly beaten by league leaders
A narrow defeat to SWPL 1 leaders Glasgow City should give Forfar Farmington encouragement to move up the table in the weeks to come.
It wasn’t until the 70th minute that City broke the deadlock.
Forfar should have equalised in injury-time but a combination of the woodwork and chances spurned cost them a point.
Second bottom on three points, their next league game is away to Rangers on May 6.
In SWPL 2, St Johnstone manager Jason McCrindle was not a happy man after his team followed up their impressive victory over Kilmarnock by going down 6-0 at Motherwell.
He said: “Congratulations to Motherwell on a clinical performance in the first half and deserved win.
“From our point of view I’m not going to sugar-coat it and say it’s OK, we have learned lessons and we move on.
“It’s almost like we are accepting defeat as long as we learned from it. We need to be tougher and stronger mentally when we are under pressure.
“We have to take responsibility collectively as a group from coaching staff through to the players. Losing goals like that isn’t acceptable we lost focus and buckled under the pressure.
“It’s up to me now to find answers to why we are not performing consistently especially after the high of the Kilmarnock game.”
In Division 2 North, Montrose strengthened their grip at the top of the table with a 5-1 win at Turriff United.
Forfar Farmington Development are joint second after a 4-3 home win against Moray.
In Division 2 East, Jeanfield Swifts Development got their first win of the campaign by defeating Bonnyrigg Rose 6-4. The goals came from Paula Strathie, Tara Laughlin (two), Abbie Ferguson (two) and Louise McClelland.
In the same division, Dundee City won 4-2 away at Hearts Development.
