Head coach Cockerill blasts warning for Munster

-

Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill hailed his side’s work ethic after their 1872 Cup triumph over Glasgow.

“The credit is all to the players, because they’ve worked incredibly hard,” he said.

“We’ve made history, the club have never done this before, and we’re at the top table.

“But we’ve still got a long way to go. We’ll be huge underdogs at Thomond. Not many sides go there and win.

“But we’re going to test ourselves and whatever happens it’ll be a great experience and a huge learning curve for us.

“We’ve got good enough players to go there and make them sweat, because if they don’t get it right, we can beat them.”

Edinburgh star Jamie Ritchie says he and his team-mates will head to Thomond Park looking to casuse an upset against Munster.

“We’re not going over to Munster to roll over but it is a huge game for us,” he said.

“We’ll do what we’ve done every other game this season and give our best.”

Warriors flanker Rob Harley is not worried about his side’s stalling momentum as they prepare to face either Cheetahs or Scarlets in three weeks’ time.

He said: “Edinburgh beat us in a few key areas and it’s better to have that happen this week and get the chance to correct that over the next three weeks rather than in the semi-final.

“We’ve got the time to rectify it before the semi so we’re going to make the most of it, learn some lessons and hopefully put up a better performance.”
