Smith strike helps ensure Dokens win league title

Dundee North End were crowned North League Champions following their 2-1 win over Dundee Violet at Glenesk Park.

Kieran Sturrock gave North End an early lead and they had both hands on the trophy when Ryan Smith made it 2-0 on 67 minutes.

Violet pulled a goal back on 75 minutes through Steven Duffy, just to make it interestin­g, but Ross Lunan’s men saw out the win to take a deserved title.

Blairgowri­e bounced back from their 6-1 drubbing at the hands of North End last weekend as they thrashed Lochore Welfare 5-0.

The goals came courtesy of a Gary Axworthy double alongside strikes from James Simpson, Darren Neave and Matty Adam.

East Craigie made it 10 wins on the bounce but were made to work by Coupar Angus.

James Ma lone and Logan Irvine were on target for the Shipbuilde­rs, while Stuart Banks netted for Logan McConachie’s side from the penalty spot

Luncarty took full advantage of Violet’s defeat as they won 3-0 at Forfar Albion,

Daniel Walker scored the first with Richard Doig scoring the second. Stuart Nicol ensured victory with the third for Jonny Kelly’s side.

Brechin Vics were reduced to 10 men for the second week in a row as they lost 4-1 at Tulloch Park to Kinnoull.

George Hughes put the Perth side in front on 11 minutes and Ben Ragen made it 2-0 after 33 minutes.

Vics were reduced to 10 men just after the half-hour mark when Bruce Herd was shown a second yellow and Kinnoull took full advantage with Darren Gray scoring the third and Hughes the fourth with five minutes remaining.

Vics scored a consolatio­n with a minute remaining through Liam Bailey

Scone Thistle enjoyed a 4-1 win away from home at East Shore Park.

Aaron Carlon put the Jags in front on 12 minutes only for Billy Rogerson to equalise for Newburgh six minutes later.

Carlon restored his side’s lead on 24 minutes and Ross Mitchell made it three on 32 minutes.

Scone dominated the second half without adding to their tally until stoppage time when Max Avolio scored a fourth.
