-

Kelty Hearts have finally been crowned East of Scotland League champions.

Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale had been on an incredible run of games, including last week’s win over Hearts at Saughton, before back-to-back wins over Tynecastle in midweek to take it to a winner-takes-all showdown at New Central Park.

This time Kelty were in no mood to relinquish the title and ran out 3-1 winners to lift the trophy after an incredible season of just that one defeat in 24 games, 143 goals scored and 12 conceded.

Stuart Cargill put Kelty in front on 40 minutes with an overhead kick and four minutes later Murray Carstairs headed home to make it 2-0.

The visitors pulled a goal back but Scott Taylor-Mackenzie added a third late on.
